25th February – Pancake Day
25th+26th February – Lullabyz will be having a joint inspection between ESTYN and CIW. As you know we regularly receive inspections from CIW to ensure that the ‘Care’ of your children is paramount, well undertaken and constantly improving. ESTYN will concentrate on the educational side of the nursery as we are registered to deliver the Childcare Offer and Foundation Phase. You should have received an email with a link attached for you to complete a parental questionnaire, thanks to everyone who took the time to fill it in. Don’t forget ‘Parents Evening’ on Wednesday 26th February – come along and chat with the staff and other parents, have a look around the nursery and take a peek at your child’s Development Books. Zara our ALNCO (Additional Learning Needs Coordinator) will be available on the night should you wish to have a chat with her 2nd March – St David’s Day. The children will enjoy a day immersed in the traditions and tastes of Wales!! They are invited to wear welsh costumes, rugby shirts or simply something Red to join in the celebrations.
3rd March – Cooking Together. Look out for your invitation to your cooking together session. Don’t worry if you don’t receive an invite for this session as the next one will be Thursday 2nd April. Please let us know if you can/can’t make your allotted session as we can swap the names around to accommodate everyone.
5th March – World Book Day. We will have fun celebrating our love of stories and books. The children are invited to come to nursery as their favourite characters and bring in their favourite book to share. For the first time this year we will also be offering a ‘book swap’. Children are invited to bring in an old book to swap with a friend.
13th March – Sport Relief. To join in the fun of Sport Relief the children and staff are invited to wear something ‘Sporty.’ There will be lots of fun, sporty activities going on all day. Any donations will be greatly received. 17th March – St Patrick’s Day. The children will have fun dancing an Irish jig, tasting Colcannon and learning all about children in Ireland. The children are invited to wear something Green!
23rd March - Mothers Day Surprise. As most of you will be aware, Sunday 22nd is Mother’s Day and there will be lots of fun arts and craft activities in preparation for some surprises for you all. If your child is in our Preschool, please keep an eye out for a very special invitation to nursery. You will need to be free between either 3-4 or 4-5pm to attend an intimate soirée with your child on Mon 22nd March.
23th-27th March – Healthy Body, Happy Me. The children will be taking part in the annual campaign run by the National Day Nursery Association. Each day of the week-long campaign has a special theme promoting healthy messages with fun activities, tips and ideas. Nursery News:- Improvements - As you can see our garden improvements are well on the way, the new shelter has proved to be a huge success and has allowed all of the nursery much more frequent access to the outdoor area. Thank you for bearing with us whilst we wait to have the new artificial grass laid – unfortunately we need a few completely dry days before we can lay the grass and that is proving difficult at the moment but the company is on ‘stand by’ and will be here as soon as is possible. In the meantime we are hoping to set up all of our new equipment, planters, mud kitchen, loose parts and be on our way to achieving our goal of a much more hands on, interactive, welcoming outdoor classroom. Please be assured that even though the garden was unavailable to the children over the last couple of weeks, they have been out and about either in the large car park area or in the locality on walks and investigations.
Self Evaluation/Statement of Purpose - As discussed in our last newsletter the updated Self Evaluation and Statement of Purpose are now available in the ‘Parent Pit Stop’ along with our ‘Question of the Month’. Thank you for such a fantastic response both in the Pit Stop and on our Facebook Page, it was so positive. Please feel free to offer any suggestions you may have, as we take all your feedback on board. One suggestion we received this time was to include a ‘sum up’ of the day on the class dojo which was implemented within 24 hours and several parents have since commented on this.
Policies - We have also updated our policies which, as always, are available in our Parent Pit Stop, however, we have been contemplating how best to keep you informed of both the content and changes made within these policies, as it can be very daunting and time consuming to pick up the ever growing file. Two of the deputy managers suggested having a ‘Policy of the Month’ which will be displayed in the Parent Pit Stop which we think is a fantastic idea! We can make it relevant to the time of year, for example, ‘Sun Care Policy’ during hotter months, ‘Medication’ during germ season and so on. What do you think about this? This month’s policy is Promoting, Positive Behaviour.
Holiday Club – Our holiday club is busier than ever so please book your place for the Easter Holidays early as to avoid disappointment!
