July 2019

Here comes the sun – what a lovely start to July! Long may it continue over the Summer so that the children can ‘Seize the Season’ in the great outdoors!! This is the perfect time to remind you to ensure your child has a hat and sun cream in nursery. We always have a few spare hats, if forgotten, but we are unable to provide sun cream due to so many allergies so please, please bring in sun cream so that your child does not miss out.

Nursery News :
Our family BBQ and our Father’s Day celebrations were a fantastic success even though the weather tried it’s best to put a dampener on them both. Thank you so much for attending and supporting us and we hope you enjoyed yourselves too.

We have recently been inspected for our “Quality For All’. Quality for All (QfA) is Early Year’s Wales childcare quality assurance scheme. The award aims high. It considers more than minimum standards, giving childcare providers the opportunity to gain recognition for all the investment and contribution that they, and their staff, make to their childcare service. We are extremely pleased to tell you, that for the 5th year running, Lullabyz has been awarded Highly Commended!!! This is the highest level that you can achieve, so we are extremely proud to retain such an accolade. The assessor wrote- “Children are confident in their surroundings with staff who are knowledge, cheerful and professional”, “Children benefit from activities that challenge, stimulate and encourage them and children contribute to their own plans for learning”. It is fantastic to maintain such high standards but as you know we are always looking to improve so don’t forget that if you have any ideas or suggestions for the nursery there is a Parental Suggestion Box in the Pit Stop that you can add to at any time.

Christmas Opening Times – This may seem incredibly early but we have made the decision to close on Friday 27th December and so wanted to give you plenty of notice. We don’t usually close on the 27th of the month but it seems a lot to ask the staff to come in simply for the Friday and we assume that many work places will be the same. It is usually a very quiet day for us and we always end up sending staff home – hence the decision to close and allow the staff to enjoy the Christmas break with their own families. We hope this doesn’t cause you any problems. Nicola will ensure that you will not be charged for this day as it is our decision to close.

24th December  – Closing at 1pm

25th,26th,27th December - Closed

31st December closing at 4pm

1st January Closed.

Fees - As discussed in May’s newsletter, we have managed to delay our annual rise in fees. Most nurseries increased their fees in April to cover the increase in minimum wage, pensions etc but we decided to wait and see just how much the cut in business rates helped to alleviate some of this pressure.  However, despite our best efforts, we have had to take the decision to increase the fees from September 2019 in order to maintain our high standards. We have worked out the necessary fee increases for September and want to give you plenty of notice so that you can get your own monthly finances in order. We hope that this delay has helped somewhat. We have priced compared with many local nurseries to ensure that we are as competitive as we can be for what we are able to offer our families.
The new fees will be as follows:-
Full Day (6pm) - £45.00
Full Day (4pm) - £39.00
Half Day - £26.50
Full week - £210.00
Early Start (7.30-8.00) - £3.00
Extra hours/Late pick up - £6.00

Nicola is in the process of working through everyone’s fees and you will shortly receive a breakdown of your new payments.

Upcoming Events:

Fete:- Saturday 6th July 10am-1pm. All monies raised will go towards a major garden renovation project so your attendance and support on the day will be greatly appreciated. There will be fun characters, games, art and craft, bouncy castle, face painting and much, much more. You can even get your revenge on Nic and Lou as we banish them to the stocks for a good soaking!!

Preschool Leaver’s Party – All of our children, who are leaving us to start Big School, are invited to attend. Thursday 11th July at Newport Leisure Centre at 1pm. There will be a soft play session followed by a party tea at the nursery. If you have not returned your permission slip, please do so A.S.A.P

Sports Day’s - Preschool will be very busy few throughout July. They will be involved in ‘sporting sessions’ in preparation for their annual ‘Sports Day Events’. In order to involve as many children as possible, the staff have decided to have a ‘Sports Week’ (Wk bg 22.07.19) so that all children can participate. Could you please ensure that your child has a pair of trainers, sun cream and a hat in nursery this week. Thank you

Friday 30th August will be our Teddy Bears Picnic to celebrate the end of the Summer Holidays. Children are invited to bring in their favourite bear to join in the Summer Fun. (Please label)

Dates are not confirmed as yet but our Holiday Club children will attend ‘Sport in The Park’ sessions throughout the Summer Holidays. We will keep you posted.

Many thanks
Nicola, Louise and the Lullabyz Team
